Everyone involved with lifesaving CPR

Staff at Prior Power Solutions have been learning CPR through a series of mini workshops aimed at teaching the all-important aspects of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation.

From engineers and welders, to storemen, accounts assistants and managers, staff from across the business downed their tools and keyboards for an hour to learn vital CPR and as well as how to operate an AED (Automatic External Defibrillator).

Prior Power Solutions’, Health, Safety, Quality & Environment Officer, Daniel Dyball, leading the training says, “With ever increasing media attention around heart attacks and sudden cardiac arrests, many people would not know what to do if faced with this situation at home, at work or out with friends.

“Being able to perform good quality CPR and being able to use an AED can make the difference between life and death.”

On average there are 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests per year. In these cases, the emergency services are in attendance to resuscitate the victim. Unfortunately, the survival rate is as low as 1 in 10 people.

One of the participants, Marketing Manager Stephanie Pimlott says,

I now feel much more confident if faced with someone having a heart attack or sudden cardiac arrest.

“Being able to practice CPR on the dummies was particularly helpful as it’s harder than you think to do the compressions properly.

“You remember bits and pieces from years gone by, but the relaxed setting of this training and being able to ask lots of questions made it really valuable and relevant.”
