FUEL POLISHING SERVICES

From sampling at source to cleaning

The preventative and reactive maintenance fuel polishing services we provide are offered for all diesel-driven plant and machinery from standby generators to nitrogen converters in applications from agriculture and construction to marine, and oil & gas.

For scheduled maintenance, 24-hour emergency call out, fuel sampling, analysis, contamination removal and fuel polishing services we are your go-to place for expertise and experience you can trust. We offer onsite fuel polishing services of diesel held in tanks, bowsers and drums.

Our range of mobile fuel polishing units incorporate the latest technology in diesel filtration. They are capable of cleaning fuel at rates of 50 to 1,000 litres per minute with the ability to reduce water content from over 100,000ppm to 200ppm and particulate down to 1 micron in just a single pass. At the same time, highly effective biocide treatments can be used to breakdown ‘diesel bug’.

Fuel polishing is a highly cost-effective method of returning your fuel back to the ISO specification and eliminates the expense of totally replacing the fuel. Contact us today for a free quote for our tailor-made solutions which ensure that your machinery is kept in prime condition.

We currently have a 1000 LPM Fuel Cleaning Unit available to own. Please download full specifications below.

DO YOU KNOW WHAT’S IN YOUR FUEL TANK?

Contaminant

Cause

Effect

Water

Poor fuel handling and transfer processes.

Leaking fuel tanks

Condensation with fuel tanks

Engine and fuel system damage

Corrosion

Fuel Oxidation

Growth of ‘diesel bug’

Diesel Bug

Grows as a result of water contamination

Blocked engine filters and fuel components

Asphaltines

Naturally occurring in fuel.

Increases with heat and stress to fuel.

Blocked engine filters

Gums, resins and acids

Fuel oxidation, accelerated by water contamination

Filter blockage and corrosion

Other Particles – rust, soot, grit etc.

Poor fuel quality, poor fuel handling, corroding fuel tanks

Filter blockage and increased fuel system wear

SAMPLING AND ANALYSIS

Our manufacturer-trained service engineers carry out onsite fuel sampling. Fuel is then analysed in just 5 minutes using the latest in fuel analysing technology to confirm that the fuel is within ISO 18/16/13 specification. Traditional approaches typically take up to 2 days to provide this information.

Wherever diesel fuel is stored, especially over long periods of time, there is strong likelihood that excessive water contamination will occur. At the same time as testing for particle contamination, our advanced testing methods allow us to test for water content. Global fuel standards allow for 200 ppm, however the latest biofuels can absorb as much as 1,500ppm.

DIESEL BUG

Fuel tanks containing water provide the perfect breeding ground for ‘diesel bug’. Bacteria, moulds and yeast thrive within the interface between fuel and water – living in and drawing nutrients from within the fuel. As the diesel bug grows within the fuel, it can cause numerous issues. The lumps of biomass can quickly and easily clog fuel filters and degrade fuel quality.

Regular fuel polishing is recommended to remove diesel bug which can reduce the performance or even damage your engine.
