Over four decades of experience
Originally, Prior Diesel Limited was established in 1980 as an extension to George Prior Engineering in Great Yarmouth who carried out repair work on vessels operating in the North Sea. During the 1980s and 1990s many offshore support vessels owned by Tidewater Marine whose HQ is in the U.S.A. were powered by Detroit Diesel 2 stroke engines. Prior Diesel carried out numerous engine overhauls and repairs during this period and from this was awarded a Detroit Diesel dealership to help support the growing business from this product.
The growth of the company continued and in 1991 Prior Diesel moved to a new purpose built industrial unit to meet the high demand of our specialist services with many other leading engine manufacturers wanting to have Prior Diesel as their extended arm for supporting their products in the market place. Today we are an authorised supplier for Baldwin Filters, Cummins, Detroit, Deutz, Fleetguard, FPT, Lister Petter, Perkins, Scania, Separ Filter, Sullair and Volvo Penta.
With all these prestigious engine manufacturers falling under the Prior Diesel banner the Parts Department thrived and alongside the engine repairs built a strong relationship with UK and overseas clients in many sectors of industry supplying spares to all corners of the globe.
Prior Diesel’s wealth of knowledge and experience gained through servicing major clients in the North Sea for many years has led to the expansion of our offshore support department. The Prior Diesel name is very well known in the offshore industry for offering a fast response and reliable service that can be relied on to keep downtime to a minimum to maximise production. Providing labour only to completely refurbishing equipment or supplying new replacement products Prior Diesel has the solution to meet the customer demands.
Prior Diesel became part of the Suretank Group in January 2015 – a world-leading manufacturer of engineered Cargo Carrying Units (CCUs) and tanks for the offshore oil and gas industry.
