Engineering project enlists all departments
The reengineering and refurbishment of a cement pump for the offshore oil & gas industry has been successfully completed thanks to the collaboration of skills and expertise from the entire company.
With such a wide range of services provided by Prior Power Solutions, it is a project such as this that demonstrates the combined strength of the company.
Originally as a two-piece assembly, our engineering and production teams reconfigured and rehoused the major components of the engine power pack and pump skid into three separate lifting frames.
This made each skid lighter in weight to allow for crane weight limitations offshore.
Sound proofing was also installed on the engine power pack to reduce noise levels.
The project, spanning several months, included fully reconditioning the pumps, fabrication of new designed frames, manufacturing new pipework, and full engine overhauls – overhauls completed by our engine service team.
Having identified defects during dyno testing at our onsite test cell, our engine service team undertook complete overhaul of the two CAT 3412 engines used to power the cement pump. Originally built in 1987 and capable of producing 860hp @2100 rpm, these mighty engines were fully reconditioned to zero hours ready for the refurbished unit.
This overhaul could not have been completed without genuine replacement parts sourced by our multi-dealership parts department onsite.
