Hydrogen Day 2021

Today we celebrate Hydrogen Day.

Why today? Well, October 8th – or 10.08 as some denote, gives reference to the atomic weight of Hydrogen – 1.008.

And why Hydrogen?

Hydrogen Diesel Introduction Engine

Well, there has been a lot of press recently on the Government’s UK Hydrogen Strategy, as well as hydrogen-fuelled internal combustion engine development from big names such as the likes of Cummins, JCB and Toyota.

And whilst we completely applaud and back these exciting carbon-cutting projects, the question has to be asked, “What about all the millions of existing diesel engines chugging out emissions?”

Diesel engines are everywhere – not just transport – cars, lorries, trains, boats and buses, but on construction sites in plant and machinery – excavators, cranes, and dumper trucks, on farms in tractors and combines.

Diesel engines are also one of the most common engines for power generation applications and are often used for emergency or backup generators to provide off grid power or during grid outages so are found at festivals and events, hospitals and data centres.

Whilst great steps are taking place to develop hydrogen engines, existing, high emission emitting diesel engines are everywhere and the technology and infrastructure to replace them with hydrogen internal combustion engines is still some time off.

But that doesn’t mean nothing can be done to address these emissions. The hydrogen injection diesel engine system is a self-contained, retrofittable unit that produces Hydrogen on demand from demineralised water and reduces harmful emissions – 80% less Diesel Particulate Matter, 22% less NOx, 25% less CO and 8% less CO2. Not only that, it increases the power of the engine by up to 10% and reduces diesel fuel consumption by up to 14% thereby offering operational cost savings and a fast return on investment.

So really, the only question that needs to be asked is, “What are you waiting for?” We can help you cut emissions now.
