Low operating temperature Coiled Tubing unit

Prior Power Solutions has capitalised on its vast engineering pedigree and in-depth knowledge of oil and gas equipment to design and manufacture a bespoke Coiled Tubing unit.

Comprising of a hydraulic power pack and control cabin, the Coiled Tubing unit has been manufactured at Prior Power Solution’s extensive facilities in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.

Built for the European market to support onshore or offshore operations, the unit is CE marked as well as ATEX approved for operating in Zone II hazardous areas.

Similar in function to wireline operations, Coiled Tubing units can be used to deploy tools and convey inert gases and fluids through the tubing into the oil or gas well to support production.

A first for Prior Power Solutions, the unit has an operational range of -40oC to 50oC. The Coiled Tubing unit features a separate heating system to warm fluids and temperature sensitive components to operational temperature to facilitate operation in extreme conditions.

The unit has been painted to customer specification and includes a remote BOP control system and fitted with a fire deluge system.

Project Manager Darren Trett says, “Where possible, we have made use of the extensive energy and engineering supply chain in Great Yarmouth to support the manufacture of this impressive piece of equipment.

As part of Moreld, we have also been able to collaborate with other companies in the group for elements required for the build.”

A leading supplier of specialised diesel-driven, alternative, and sustainable power systems, equipment and services, Prior Power Solutions supports a wide range of industries including oil and gas, marine, renewables, mining, agriculture, and construction.

James Rix, Managing Director says, “This project has utilised the entire breadth of incredible skills within the team in Great Yarmouth from design engineers and project managers to hydraulic and mechanical engineers, welders and fabricators.

“This is a perfect example of our engineering prowess and delivering bespoke solutions to customers.”

Function tested on site; the unit will now be used to support operations through well intervention.
