Prior Power Solutions has been crowned ‘SME Employer of the Year’ at Reaseheath College’s annual apprenticeship awards.

The company has worked with Reaseheath College for a number of years delivering Volvo Penta Industrial apprenticeships.

Picking up the award for the company, service manager Daniel Platten says, “We have supported young people for several whether that be through apprenticeships, T-level work placements or work experience placements.

“In fact Jai, one of our current apprentices studying at Reaseheath College started with us on a work experience placement.”

Prior Power Solutions currently has five apprentices across all departments – several close to finishing their qualifications. The company has a strong record of our apprentices staying and growing with the company – some have been here nearly 20 years and now in management roles.

Daniel explains the approach Prior Power Solutions takes to its apprentices, “We always give our apprentices a mentor so they’ve got a single point of contact at all times, we then make sure the apprentices are working hands-on rather than watching because we don’t believe that give them any benefit at all.

We believe its important to support apprentices so we can keep the younger generation flowing through to support the industry over the coming years.”
